PORT ANGELES — Joining the annual Crush in the Slush this holiday season will be a new tournament in Joyce called the Crescent Holiday Break tournament.
Crescent’s inaugural tournament will begin Thursday with two local schools, Crescent and Clallam Bay, featured.
The Crush in the Slush Tournament will begin Friday in Port Townsend with boys’ games on Friday and girls’ games on Saturday.
The Crush in the Slush will feature a mix of 14 1A and 2A schools, with schools coming from as far away as Mattawa (Wahluke), Auburn and Bellingham.

12:30 p.m. — La Conner girls vs. Sehome
2:15 p.m. — Bellingham girls vs. King’s Way Christian
4 p.m. — Eastside Prep boys vs. Granite Falls
5:45 p.m. — Squalicum girls vs. Auburn
7:30 p.m. — Blaine boys vs. Port Townsend
Saturday
9 a.m. — Wahluke girls vs. Bellingham
10:45 a.m. — Blaine boys vs. Eastside Prep
12:30 p.m. — Squalicum girls vs. King’s Way Christian
2:15 p.m. — Auburn girls vs. Sehome
4 p.m. — Granite Falls boys vs. La Conner
5:45 p.m. — La Conner girls vs. Port Townsend
7:30 p.m. — Port Townsend boys vs. Overlake
The Port Townsend girls come in to the tournament 3-4 (1-1 in the Olympic 1A League), though the RedHawks have won three straight. Wahluke is 4-3, while La Conner appears to be a very tough team at 8-1. La Conner is ranked No. 4 in RPI at the 2B level.
The Port Townsend boys also come in to the tournament 3-4 (1-1 in Olympic 1A), though the RedHawks have beaten two 2A teams (Bremerton and North Mason). Blaine, a 2A school, is 1-6 and has lost to both Forks and Port Angeles. They beat Coupeville, a team Port Townsend has also beaten. Overlake is 2-3.
The Crescent Holiday Break Tournament will feature six boys’ teams. The schedule will be:

6 p.m. — Sulamita Christian vs. Klahowya
7:30 p.m. — Crescent vs. Shoreline Christian
Friday
1 p.m. — Sulamita Christian vs. Clallam Bay
2:30 p.m. — Klahowya vs. Shoreline Christian
4:30 p.m. — Crescent vs. Christian Faith
The Crescent boys come in to the tournament 3-4, but the Loggers have won three out of their last four games. Clallam Bay comes in to the tournament with a record of 0-2.
Meanwhile, Port Angeles and Neah Bay teams will be off this week at other holiday tournaments. The Port Angeles boys are at the SunDome Shoot-Out in Yakima. The Roughriders will play Prairie on Thursday and Southridge on Saturday.
The Port Angeles girls are at the Mark Morris Tournament in Longview. They will play Mark Morris on Thursday and Puyallup on Friday.
The Neah Bay boys and girls will play teams from Taholah at the Muckleshoot Holiday Hardware Classic at the ShoWare Center in Kent today.
