FORKS — Forks made a course correction after struggling through a rough first half, ultimately pulling away for a 67-45 Pacific League boys basketball victory over Raymond-South Bend at home Tuesday.
The Spartans struggled to stop hot-shooting Brody Quintana who poured in 14 first-half points.
Forks coach Keith Weekes said the team refocused at the break.
“Recognizing their mistakes and talking through the corrections. Our guys do a great job of following coaches instructions and game plans, but as the players on the court they are smart enough to make those self corrections. And in the second half they made tremendous corrections.”
Weekes said the team had more active hands on defense, hurrying Raymond-South Bend into missed shots and limiting Quintana to four after halftime.
“RSB did a good job challenging Brody [Lausche] in the second half but we were able to have other guys step up. Bubba Hernandez-Stansbury, Kyle Lohrengel and Titus Rowley were able to attack the rim at more direct lines and get better shots.”
Lausche had a monster night on the boards with 21 points and 18 rebounds, while Rowley added 20 points and 11 rebounds.

PORT TOWNSEND — The Rivals got five 3-pointers and 26 points from John Mercado in a win over the Eagles.
The Rivals hit a total of eight 3-pointers and also got solid games from Luke O’Hara and Julius Mercado, who each scored 12 points. Jared Diaz Zavala added seven points.
East Jefferson (0-0, 3-5) next plays at Life Christian (3-4) on Friday.
Girls Basketball East Jefferson 70, Klahowya 31
SILVERDALE — For the third straight game, the Rivals got a huge game from a different player, this time Dylin Shockley, in a 70-31 win over Klahowya.
Shockley hit eight 3-pointers and scored 30 points for the Rivals, who improved to 4-6 on the season with their third straight win. Last week, East Jefferson got a 26-point, 18-rebound game from Penina Vailolo and a 19-point game, six-assist effort from Kay Botkin in separate wins.
Shockley had 13 points after one quarter as East Jefferson went up 31-4.
Kadence Plotner added 12 points and Botkin 11 points, seven steals and six assists for the Rivals, while committing only two turnovers at the point guard position. Vailolo had 13 rebounds and is averaging 15 rebounds a game over her past three games. Teri Wiley added six rebounds, five assists, five steals and five points.
East Jefferson (0-1, 4-6) next plays at Life Christian (1-1, 3-4) on Friday.
