WISHKAH VALLEY — Clallam Bay overcame a second-half rally to win a 55-43 nonleague boys basket over Twin Valley (Lake Quinault-Wishkah Valley).
Monday’s triumph was the second straight win for the Bruins (2-1). Clallam Bay held back Rainier Christian 51-47 on Saturday.
“They [Twin Valley] made a run to come back and make it pretty close, they actually came back and took a one point lead in the third quarter,” Bruins coach Kelly Gregory said.
“The kids kind of beared down in the last part of the third and the fourth quarter and picked up their intensity a little bit,” Bruins coach Kelly Gregory said.
“Our defensive intensity was really good.”
Kelly Gregory Jr. scored 20 points for Clallam Bay to lead all scorers.
Junior Dakotah Cowdrey contributed 14 for the Bruins.
“He worked hard in the offseason and is probably our most improved player, “ Gregory said.
Casey Randall chipped in with eight points and Alan Greene added six for Clallam Bay.
“We’ve been improving with each game,” Gregory said.
“We’re trying to emphasize having a little more patience on offense this year and it’s going pretty good.”
The Bruins visit the Port Angeles C squad on Thursday.

WISHKAH VALLEY — The Bruins picked up their first win on the season after pushing to a 32-16 halftime advantage against the Loggerettes.
Wishkah Valley has enough players to field a varsity team this season so there is no Twin Valley combined girls team.
Clallam Bay (1-2) suffered a post-intermission hiccup, scoring just six points in the third quarter, but put together a 23 fourth-quarter in the nonleague victory.
Mariah LaChester led all scorers for the Bruins with 14 points and Inga Erickson had 12.
Molly McCoy had eight points and eight rebounds, Zeria Signor put up eight points and Atokena Abe had seven points.
“We were very aggressive going to the basket and went to the line 36 times but only hit 21 of them,” Clallam Bay coach Kathleen Winter said.
Jennica Maines scored four points, grabbed seven rebounds and swiped five steals.
“Jennica had a great defensive game for us,” Winter said.
The Bruins visit the Port Angeles C squad on Thursday.
