SEQUIM — The Sequim baseball team got outstanding pitching performances from Connor Bear and Ricky Jennings, who combined to throw a one-hitter in a 5-1 victory over North Mason on Monday.
Bear started and picked up the win, going five innings and allowing one single and one unearned run. He struck out eight and walked one. Jennings came in with Sequim hanging on to a 3-1 lead and pitched two perfect innings, allowing zero baserunners, to collect the save.
It was the Wolves’ first Olympic League win of the year.
At the plate, the Wolves managed just six hits but made them count. Jennings and Bear helped themselves at the plate. Jennings had a hit and two RBIs, while Bear had a hit, a run scored and an RBI.
Zach McCracken, Brayden White, Ethan Staples and Jamison Gray all added hits for the Wolves, while Ayden Holland and White had RBIs.
Sequim (1-9, 2-12) next plays at Kingston (3-6, 3-6) today.

Port Angeles 8, Bainbridge 6
BAINBRIDGE — The Port Angeles baseball team likes playing good teams.
The Roughriders didn’t get a lot of hits but relied on solid defense and great pitching to knock off powerful first-place Bainbridge 8-6 on Monday.
The Roughriders scored eight runs despite only managing four hits. Bainbridge came in to Monday’s game with only one loss on the season and had won its last three games by a combined score of 36-1.
“We played a pretty clean game defensively. They did not,” said coach Casey Dietz. “We took advantage of that.”
The Roughriders’ Kole Acker and Beckett Jarnigan combined to only allow five hits. Acker started and went four innings, striking out three and walking three. He gave up five runs and was behind 5-3 when he left the game, but only one run was earned.
“Kole gave us everything that he had,” Dietz said.
Jarnigan came in to pitch in the fifth inning and allowed one hit with four strikeouts and three walks. He benefited from a big five-run fifth inning for the Riders.
“He came in and shut the door. He got the win,” Deitz said.
Elijah Flodstrom had a hit and two RBIs, while Hunter Robinson had a hit and two runs scored. Ezra Townsend had a hit and two walks, and Kaleb Mullen a hit. Seven walks helped the Riders fill up the bases.
“We didn’t have a lot of hits, but we were able to apply pressure on them,” Dietz said. He said that Michael Soule laid down a couple of great bunts and Robinson had a good bunt.
Port Angeles (5-4, 7-7) plays another good team, North Kitsap (7-2, 12-2),at Civic Field at 4:15 p.m. today. The Riders beat the Vikings 2-1 earlier this season.
