POULSBO — The Port Angeles baseball team will go to the Bidistrict Tournament as the No. 2 seed out of the Olympic League after being three-hit by North Kitsap in a 5-2 tiebreaker loss.
Port Angeles and North Kitsap tied for the league title with identical 12-2 league records, requiring the tiebreaking game Tuesday to give the Vikings the league championship.
Despite the loss, the Port Angeles boys will go to the postseason tournament that begins Tuesday as a likely high seed as they are No. 9 in the state in ratings percentage index. North Kitsap is No. 7.
The duo of Brayden Martin and Colton Romero pitched well, allowing eight hits while striking out 10, but the Riders could only manage three hits against Dawsyn Anderson and Marcus Kim, who got the final out.
Port Angeles did rally in the fifth inning, down 5-0. Kaleb Mullen came up with a huge two-run double and the Riders were in business with two on and only one out. But Anderson got a strikeout and a fly out to get out of trouble.
Romero had a hit and scored a run and Nate Basden had Port Angeles’ other hit.
Port Angeles played a special nonleague game Wednesday at the home of the Tacoma Rainiers, Cheney Stadium, against King’s, a Christian school out of Shoreline. The result of that game was after press deadline.

Kingston 8, Sequim 6
SEQUIM — The Sequim Wolves struggled in the field, making eight errors in an 8-6 tiebreaking loss to Kingston.
Tuesday’s game gave Kingston fourth place in the Olympic League while Sequim finished fifth. Sequim coach Dave Ditlefsen said the Wolves will still make the Bidistrict tournament that begins next Tuesday and now await their seeding.
The game featured 15 total errors. Sequim’s Zeke Schmadeke and Bryant Laboy combined to allow only six hits and three earned runs, but were hurt by unearned runs. Schmadeke went four innings, allowing three hits and three earned runs while striking out three. Laboy pitched three innings, allowing three hits. He struck out three.
Brayden White was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI, while Ethan Staples had a hit and an RBI. Logan Doyle hit a double and scored a run and Devyn Dearinger scored a run and had an RBI with a sac fly.
