PREP BASEBALL, SOFTBALL: Forks splits with Pe Ell

PA baseball, softball both win big

PE ELL — A seventh-inning rally fell just short in a 3-2 loss to Pe Ell-Willapa Valley, but once Forks’ bats were warmed up, they stayed that way in a 15-1 win in five innings in game two of a Pacific League doubleheader.

The Spartans loaded the bases with two outs in the top of the seventh in game one, but couldn’t bring the tying or winning runs home after Carter Windle scored on an error and Dalton Kilmer added the second run on a passed ball.

Windle was the hard-luck loser in game one, allowing three runs on four hits while striking out 10 and walking zero.

Logan Olson led the way for Forks (8-1) in the nightcap, going 4 for 5 with a triple and a double while driving in five runs and scoring two. Olson also started the game on the mound, allowing no hits and one walk while striking out seven in four innings of work.

Raymond Davis added a three-run triple, Carter Windle went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI, Trey Baysinger doubled and scored twice, Riley Pursley walked home two runs and Kilmer added two base hits and two runs in the big win.

The Spartans are now tied with Pe Ell-Willapa Valley and Ocosta for the Class 2B Pacific League’s top seed heading into Southwest District Tournament play.
