PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles baseball team got some good pitching against a powerhouse 3A team, but only managed three hits in an 8-1 loss to Gig Harbor on Saturday at Civic Field.
Gig Harbor came in to the game 14-0 and ranked No. 2 in the state among 3A school. Five Port Angeles pitchers held the Tides to nine hits and no runs after the fourth inning.
Brandt Perry, Bryce Deleon and Braedyn Boulden-Davis all pitched scoreless innings.
At the plate, Alex Angevine had a hit and an RBI, while Luke Flodstrom and Ian Smithson each had hits.
Port Angeles (3-4, 3-8-2) has a favorable schedule down the stretch with six games left against the bottom three teams in the Olympic League. The Roughriders next host Olympic (3-5, 6-6) at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday and afterward they resume a suspended game that is tied 5-5 in the sixth inning against first-place Bainbridge.

QUILCENE — The Quilcene Rangers remained perfect this weekend with a 6-5 win over Crosspoint on Saturday and a 24-0 win Friday over Muckleshoot that featured another amazing pitching performance from Eli Allen.
In Saturday’s win, Oliver Hopkins was the pitching star as he went 5⅔ innings, allowing three hits and one earned run and striking out 10.
At the plate, Jayden Love was 3-for-3 with a triple and three runs scored. Hopkins was 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI, while Allen hit a double with a run scored and two RBIs.
In Friday’s game, Allen threw a five-inning no-hitter against Muckleshoot, his second no-hitter of the season, as the Rangers overwhelmed an overmatched team 24-0. Allen struck out 15 batters in five innings, facing just 16 batters with one walk.
Allen also had a game early this season in which he struck out 19 batters in 6â…“ innings of no-hit ball.
At the plate, Hopkins went 2-for-5 with a home run, four RBIs and three runs. Logan Carstensen was 3-for-5 with three runs scored and an RBI, while Aiden Cate was 2-for-4 with two doubles, three runs scored, two RBIs and a walk.
Allen was 2-for-5 with four runs scored and two RBIs, while Isaac Figueroa was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and three RBIs. Robert Evans had a triple and drove in four runs, while Jayden Minish had a double with two RBIs and two runs scored.
The wins improve Quilcene’s record to 7-0.

SEQUIM — The Sequim baseball team battled back after giving up five runs in the first inning to Orting, but in the end, the Cardinals had a big fifth inning to pull away for a 13-7 win.
After falling behind 5-0, the Wolves fought back to make it 5-4 and then 7-6, but the Cardinals scored six runs over the final three innings to fend off Sequim.
Clay Abrams had a big game for Sequim, going 3-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI. Zeke Schmadeke had a hit a run scored, an RBI and a walk, while Devyn Dearinger had a hit a run scored and an RBI.
Hunter Tennell, Braydan White and Lincoln Bear pitched, giving up 10 hits and eight earned runs while striking out nine.
Sequim (4-4, 4-8) returns to Olympic League action Tuesday, hosting league-leading Bainbridge (7-0, 9-3) at 4:15 p.m.

Montesano 10, Forks 1
MONTESANO — The Forks softball team got behind 5-1 in the first inning and was never able to catch up against Montesano in a 10-1 loss.
The Spartans did hold Montesano scoreless in the second, through five innings, but the Bulldogs finally broke through for five more runs in the sixth and seventh.
Chloe Gaydeski hit a double and scored a run, while Fynlie Peters had a hit and an RBI. Gaydeski pitched the entire game, allowing eight hits and just three earned runs and she struck out five.
