PREP BASEBALL: Sequim beats North Kitsap in extra innings, PA blasts Bremerton

POULSBO — Sequim rallied to knock off second place North Kitsap 7-4 in eight innings to stay in the thick of the Olympic League’s baseball playoff chase.

“Big win for the Wolves,” coach Dave Ditlefsen said.

With the game tied at 4-all in the 8th, Sequim’s Clay Abrams reached on a one-out base hit, advanced on Zeke Schmadeke’s walk and when Hunter Tennell was hit by a pitch and came home on Braydan White’s infield single for the eventual game-winning run.

Ethan Staples added an RBI single and White came home on a wild pitch to put Sequim up 7-4.

White struck out the side for Sequim to close out the win.

RBI singles by Staples and Devyn Dearinger in the seventh inning tied the game up at 4-all.

Staples and White combined on a three-hitter on the mound as the Wolves (5-7, 5-12) kept pace in fourth place with Olympic (5-7, 9-8) and North Mason (5-7, 9-8).

BREMERTON — The Roughriders walloped the Knights for the second straight contest as Alex Angevine singled, doubled, tripled and drove in four runs and Josiah Gooding was hit by four pitches and drove in five runs, three coming on a double.

In the two-game series with the Knights, Angevine went 6-for-6 with two triples, two doubles, two walks, seven runs, five RBIs and a stolen base.

Kody Williams added a two-run double and Rylan Politika added a two-run single for the Riders.

Bryce DeLeon also went 3-for-4 with a walk, three runs and three RBIs.

Hunter Stratford earned the win on the mound, allowing one hit and one walk in three innings with two strikeouts.

Third-place Port Angeles (6-6, 7-10) visits Kingston on Tuesday.

OAKVILLE — The Rangers had trouble with control and dropped their second straight game on the road Wednesday after walking eight Acorns in a nonleague loss.

Oliver Hopkins doubled and Jacob Tirao and Robert Evans each had RBI singles for Quilcene (9-2).

The Rangers visit Forks on Monday.
