FORKS — The Forks baseball team didn’t get a lot of hits, but pitched strong and took advantage of North Beach errors in a sweep over the Hyaks 8-1 and 24-8.
In the first game, the Spartans only got two hits, one by Mason Dent and the other by Connor Clark, but plated eight runs. Lane Helvey scored three runs without the benefit of a hit. He was hit by a pitch and walked, then stole three bases. Clark scored two runs.
Clark pitched 4⅔ innings, allowing three hits and striking out six. Landen Olson pitched 2⅓ innings, allowing one hit with five strikeouts.
In the second game, Forks banged out eight hits, scoring 13 runs in the first inning and 11 in the third. Dent went 2-for-4 with three runs scored, two RBIs and two stolen bases. Olson had a triple, three RBIs, three runs scored and two walks.
Radley Bennett had a triple, two runs scored and two RBIs. Titus Rowley had a triple, two runs scored and three RBIs.
Rowley pitched 1⅓ innings and gave up two hits and two earned runs while striking out three. Dent went two-thirds of an inning and struck out two.
Forks (4-2, 5-3) plays at Hoquiam (2-5) today in a nonleague game.

North Kitsap 3, Port Angeles 2
POULSBO — The Port Angeles baseball team got another good pitching performance from Kody Williams and Brayden Martin, but suffered another tough loss, falling 3-2 to league-leading North Kitsap.
The Vikings scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to pull out the victory. Former Roughrider Blake Sohlberg, now playing baseball for North Kitsap, got two strikeouts in the seventh inning to pick up a save.
It was the third one-run loss of the year for the Riders. They got five hits, all from Nathan Basden and Luke Flodstrom. Basden was 3-for-4 and Flodstrom 2-for-2. Jordan Shumway had an RBI in the first inning on a line out. With the score tied 1-1, pinch-runner Ian Smithson manufactured the Riders’ go-ahead run in the top of the sixth when he stole two bases, then came home on an error.
The Riders (2-4, 2-7-2) played North Kitsap (7-0, 8-2) on Wednesday in a home-and-away series, then host a very good 3A Gig Harbor team (13-0) at 3 p.m. Saturday at Civic Field. Gig Harbor is ranked No. 2 in the state in Ratings Percentage Index.

BREMERTON — The Sequim baseball team managed just three hits in a pitchers’ duel with Olympic, losing 7-1 on the road.
Bryant Laboy and Zeke Schmadeke allowed just five hits for the Wolves. Laboy went 2⅔ innings, allowing no hits and one walk. He struck out five. Schmadeke went 3⅓, allowing five hits and four earned runs. He struck out three.
Schmadeke, Lincoln Bear and Hunter Tennell had singles for the Wolves.
Sequim (3-4, 3-7) played Olympic (3-4, 5-5) on Wednesday in a home-and-away series, then hosts a very good Orting team (6-1) at 4:15 p.m. Friday.

QUILCENE — The Quilcene baseball team has been winning behind strong pitching all season, but on Tuesday, the Rangers relied on their bats, pounding out 10 hits in an 11-5 win over Evergreen Lutheran to improve to 5-0.
The Rangers went into the fourth inning down 1-0 but erupted for 11 runs over the last four innings.
Eli Allen was 3-for-5 with a double, a run scored and an RBI, Jayden Love was 2-for-4 with a run scored, two RBIs and a walk, while Tirao was 2-for-3 with a double, three RBIs, two runs scored and a walk.
Robert Evans also hit a double and scored two runs.
The Rangers struck out 13. Jayden Minish went three innings, allowing just one hit while striking out five, while Aiden Cate went 3⅔, allowing four hits and an earned run while striking out seven.

NORTH BEACH — The Forks softball team split a pair of lopsided games with North Beach, winning the first game 15-0 behind a one-hitter, but making eight errors in the nightcap while losing 21-8.
In the victory, Fynlie Peters hit a home run, drove in two runs, walked twice and scored two runs. Chloe Gaydeski went 2-for-3 with a double, three runs scored and an RBI. Avery Dilley was 2-for-2 with a double, a run scored and two RBIs.
Gaydeski and Dilley combined to throw a three-inning one-hitter, striking out six batters.
In the second game, North Beach scored its 21 runs on five hits. Kailyn Crowder had a triple, a run scored and two RBIs. She also pitched three innings, allowing four hits and striking out seven while allowing no earned runs.
Forks (7-3) will play at Montesano on Friday.
