FORKS — The Forks baseball team got their first two wins of the year, sweeping a pair against Chief Leschi, getting a combined no-hitter from Landen Olson and Jeremy Hutto in the nightcap.
The Spartans won Tuesday’s first game 14-2 and the second 16-0.
In the first game, the Spartans also got solid pitching as Connor Clark and Titus Rowley fired a two-hitter. Clark went two innings, allow two hits and struck out five. Rowley went two innings and struck out four.
The Spartans scored 12 runs in the first innings. Lane Helvey had a hit, three stolen bases, run runs scored, two walks and an RBI. Hutto had a double and two RBIs, while Jacob Hoscher had a double. Frank Jackson had a hit and an RBI. Olson had two runs scored and two stolen bases.
In Game Two, Olson and Hutto went two innings and struck out five.
Helvey was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI. Mason Dent was 2-for-2 with three runs scored, an RBI and a walk. Olson had a double with three RBIs and two runs scored, while Cashtien Barajas was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a run scored and Cordel Horejsi was 2-for-2 with 2 RBIs and two stolen bases.
Forks (2-0, 2-1) will next host East Jefferson (1-3) at 5 p.m. today in a nonleague game. East Jefferson has scored 18 runs in its past two games so should present a challenge the Forks pitchers.

QUILCENE — Quilcene pitcher Eli Allen put on a spectacular performance as the Rangers beat Northwest Christian in an eight-inning pitchers’ duel.
Allen not only pitched 6⅓ innings of no-hit ball, he struck out 19 batters. He walked two and two other runners got on base on an error and a dropped third strike.
The problem is Northwest Christian’s pitching was nearly as good as a pair of hurlers allowed just four hits and struck out 14.
Oliver Hopkins pitched the final 1⅔ innings and likewise did well, allowing no hits and striking out three.
The Rangers finally pulled out a victory in the bottom of the eighth, thanks to the speed of Robert Evans. Evans singled, moved to second on a passed ball and stole third base. After several pick-off attempts at third, the ball got away and Evans came in to score the game-winning run.
Hopkins finished the game 1-for-3 while Aiden Cate had a double and Jayden Love a hit.
Quilcene (2-0) next plays Sequim JV at 4 p.m. today.

BELFAIR —Despite huge days from Ethan Staples and Braydan White, the Sequim baseball team couldn’t get past North Mason in a 4-2 loss.
The Wolves had nine hits, but stranded nine runners.
Staples pitched well in the loss. He went five innings, giving up seven hits and two earned runs while walking one. He struck out nine. He was hurt by two unearned runs.
White was 4-for-4 on the day with a double and an RBI while Staples was 2-for-4 with a double. Lincoln Bear had a hit and an RBI.
Sequim (1-2, 1-3) was scheduled to host North Mason (2-1, 4-1) on Wednesday but rain and possible thunderstorms were forecast. They are next at Lakewood at noon Saturday.

BAINBRIDGE —The Port Angeles baseball team got into a tight pitchers’ duel with Bainbridge and in the end, two unearned runs were the difference in a 3-2 road loss.
Bryce DeLeon and Rylan Politika both pitched well. Politika started, going 4⅔ innings and allowing just three hits and one earned run. He struck out six. DeLeon went 1⅓ innings, allowing two hits and striking out two.
Both teams had five hits. Trae Hanan was 2-for-2 with a run scored for the Roughriders, while Alex Angevine was 1-for-3 with a run scored and two walks. Nathan Basden was 1-for-2 with an RBI and Jordan Shumway had a hit. Kody Williams had a sacrifice bunt for an RBI.
Port Angeles (1-2, 1-3) was scheduled to host Bainbridge (3-0, 3-2) on Wednesday but rain and possible thunderstorms were forecast. The Riders will next play April 5 at Stanwood.
