PORT ANGELES — It’s good news, bad news for both the Sequim and Port Angeles baseball teams as playoff seedings were announced this weekend.
The bad news for Port Angeles is the Riders (13-5-1 overall) have to go on the road as a No. 5 seed to play No. 4 White River (14-4) at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the opening round of the District 2/3 2A baseball tournament. The good news is the Riders are not only in a double-elimination bracket, if they win Tuesday they already qualify for the state 2A tournament.
The good news for Sequim (11-9) is that the Wolves get to host their opening round game as a No. 12 seed against No. 13 Franklin Pierce (9-11) at 4 p.m. Tuesday. The bad news is this is a loser-out game and Sequim must win three straight loser-out games to make it to state.
If Port Angeles loses Tuesday, the Riders would host a loser-out game at Civic Field at 4 p.m. Wednesday. That opponent would be Sequim if the Wolves win Tuesday. If the Riders win Tuesday, they play a doubleheader Saturday at Central Kitsap High School for state seeding.
