PORT ANGELES LEFTIES: PA strands too many runners against Fish Sticks

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Lefties managed nine hits against West Seattle’s Dub Sea Fish Sticks but couldn’t get the clutch hits, stranding eight runners in a 6-1 loss at Civic Field.

The Lefties actually outhit the Fish Sticks 9-8 in Tuesday’s loss. Port Angeles scored its lone run in the sixth with a Derek Bogh leadoff double and an RBI single by hometown hero Ethan Flodstrom.

Flodstrom finished the game 2-for-4 with an RBI and a double. Isaiah Munoz was 2-for-3 with a stolen base and Hunter Kirkpatrick also went 2-for-4.

The Lefties pitched well overall other than one rough inning in the seventh in which they gave up three runs. They also played an errorless game.

Aaron Rettew started and took the loss, going four innings, allowing two hits, a walk and just one earned run. He struck out five. Will Isaly pitched a scoreless inning and struck out one, while Megumi Fukuda went two innings, allowed two hits, two walks and no runs. He struck out two.

The Lefties (11-18 West Coast League, 13-20 overall) played Wednesday night after press deadline. They wrap up their nonleague series with the Fish Sticks at 6:35 p.m. today.

Port Angeles returns to WCL action at 6:35 p.m. Friday, hosting the North Division first-place Bellingham Bells (18-6) for a three-game set.

This stretch of nine home games through July 14 is the longest homestand of the season for the Lefties.
