PORT ANGELES LEFTIES: PA bats quiet in loss to HarbourCats

VICTORIA, B.C. — After a tough first inning, the Port Angeles pitching stuff buckled down the rest of the game to keep the Lefties in the game the rest of the way, though the Lefties ultimately fell 4-1 in Victoria on Tuesday night.

Lefties starter Colby Scheuber (Grays Harbor College) gave up three runs in the first inning, two of them earned, then shut the HarbourCats down for the next 4⅓ innings. He went 5⅓, allowing eight hits, one walk and two earned runs while striking out four. He took the loss.

Chaz Graham (Colorado Christian) pitched a perfect two-thirds of an inning, allowing no hits or walks, while Garrett Holpuch (Centralia College) went two innings, allowing three hits, one walk and one earned run.

At the plate, the Lefties managed just one run in the seventh.

Isiah Walz (Concordia College) was 2-for-4 with a double, single, stolen base and run scored in his first game for the Lefties. Kyle Becker (Nevada) had a walk and a stolen base, also playing in his first game of the year for the Lefties.

Roberto Nunez (Embry-Riddle) went 2-for-4 with an RBI while Trent Jackson (Hawaii-Hilo) went 2-for-4. Owen Allsup (West Texas A&M) and Chase Taylor (Hawaii Pacific) each had singles.

Port Angeles (10-21, 2-3 second half) played at Victoria (23-11, 5-3) on Wednesday after press deadline and will finish the series at 6:35 p.m. today. The Lefties return to Civic Field for a six-game homestand beginning Friday against the Bend Elks.
