PORT ANGELES LEFTIES: Lefties sweep twin bill, back home tonight

KELOWNA, B.C. — Port Angeles swept a doubleheader with host Kelowna, besting the Falcons 5-3 and 4-0 in a pair of seven-inning games Wednesday night.

Riley Parker was the offensive star in both contests for Port Angeles, driving in five runs, including an RBI double and sacrifice fly in the first game of the doubleheader.

The Lefties took the lead in the top of the sixth, scoring the go-ahead run on Danny Briones’ RBI single to bring home Devean Alvarez, who had reached on a double.

Port Angeles added an insurance score when Adam Paganelli grounded out to drive in Josh Leckey.

Trey Maeker earned the win in relief, tossing 3 1/3 innings and allowing no hits and two walks while striking out four.

Owen Dueck earned the win in game two, scattering two hits and two walks while striking out four in four innings on the hill.

A three-run third was all Port Angeles would need, with Parker and B.Y. Choi driving in runs to stake the Lefties to the lead.

Port Angeles (15-28 in WCL play) returns home for a three-game set with Victoria beginning tonight at 6:35 p.m.
