Port Angeles Lefties
VICTORIA — The Port Angeles Lefties fell victim to a record-setting night by the Victoria HarbourCats, who picked up a 21–5 victory at Royal Athletic Park on Friday evening.
The 21 runs were the most allowed by the Lefties in franchise history, while the HarbourCats became the first team in West Coast League history to score over 400 runs in a season.
Victoria showed why they have the league’s top offense for the fourth-straight night, putting up crooked numbers in four of the eight innings they came to the plate. Limited on pitching, the Lefties sent Zach Tresemer and Jadon Seibel to the mound before outfielder Rhys De Highden threw the final two innings.
Port Angeles had a solid night at the plate, scoring five runs on ten hits. Brad Altomarie tripled in a run, while Gavin Rork and Beau Blowers later added RBI singles.
Nick Plaia, Liam Ballance, Tanner Haney and Nick Adams all homered for the HarbourCats, who plated seven in the seventh inning. Kyle Sherick and Ty Schindel had four hits apiece for Victoria while Adams drove in five runs.

PORT ANGELES — The Lefties were limited to four hits in their final home game of the 2019 season as the Victoria HarbourCats claimed a 9–0 victory at Civic Field. It marked only the second time Port Angeles was shut out all season.
Lefties starter Jonny Chavez opened strong, firing three hitless innings before Victoria plated a pair of two-out runs in the fourth. In the fifth, Gus Wilson and Harrison Spohn connected on run-scoring doubles accounting for three runs to boost the ‘Cats lead to 5–0.
Nick Plaia and Kyle Sherick singled home runs over the next two innings, highlighting a sixth and seventh frames that saw Victoria score a total of four runs for the 9–0 margin that ended up being the final score.
Dylan Cyr, Beau Blowers, Rhys De Highden and Trevor Rosenberg each picked up a base hit for the Lefties. HarbourCats starting pitcher Mitch Lines was stellar, finishing with a final line of two hits and nine strikeouts across five scoreless innings.
With the outcome well in hand, manager Darren Westergard allowed his team some amusement in the ninth inning. Pitchers Zach Tresemer, Tyler Tan and Carter Loewen all batted, with each striking out after fouling off at least one pitch.
