PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles Lefties pitchers had trouble containing Victoria batters, giving up 14 hits and 13 runs in a 13-4 loss Sunday, the final Sunday afternoon game of the year at Civic Field.
Five Lefties pitchers also gave up seven walks. Starter Tommy Lockyear (Olympic College) went two innings and took the loss.
Port Angeles batters did all right, belting out 10 hits themselves. Adam Paganelli went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, raising his batting average to .357 for the season. Danny Briones was 2-for-3 with a run scored, while Jesh Leckey and Hayden Driggs each went 1-for-4 with runs scored. Jadon Arakaki went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and Ethan Flodstrom belted a double.
The Lefties split their earlier two games against Victoria, winning 10-2 on Saturday and losing 8-2 on Friday.

Friday, Saturday games
The Lefties erupted for 12 hits and 10 runs in a 10-2 rout over the HarbourCats, winning their fourth out of their last five games in probably their most complete win of the year.
The game was actually close late, with the Lefties hanging on to a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. Port Angeles erupted for six runs in the eighth to run away with the win. BY Choi belted a three-run home run while Riley Parker hit a two-run triple. Parker ended up going 3-for-5 on the day. Paganelli also went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI.
Will Peninger hit a double, scored a run, drove in a run and walked. Briones was 2-for-4 with an RBI. The Lefties drew 10 walks to go along with their 12 hits.
The Lefties also pitched well, giving up just six hits and striking out 11. Andres Quinones got the win, going five innings and allowing four hits, no runs and no walks. He struck out six. Nelson Smith and Trey Maeker went the final four innings, giving up a combined two hits, two earned runs and two walks. They struck out five.
In Friday’s game, the Lefties scored two runs early and had a 2-0 lead after two innings, but they couldn’t push across any more runs the rest of the game Friday, falling to the HarbourCats 8-2.
Peninger had an RBI double in the first inning. Jesh Leckey had a hit and scored a run and Ethan Flodstrom added a hit and a walk. Paganelli scored a run after getting on base with a walk and stealing second base in the first inning.
That was pretty much the only offense Port Angeles could muster as the Lefties had just four hits over the final seven innings.
On the mound, Mikey VanZandt started, going three innings and allowing one earned run on two hits. He walked two and struck out two. Devon Daniels didn’t pitch badly, but he took the loss. He went four innings, allowed one earned run and four hits. He struck out three. He was hurt by a pair of unearned runs.
The Lefties (17-30, 6-15 second half in WCL) take today off, then wrap up their home season at Civic Field with a three-game series against a new West Coast League team, the Edmonton Riverhawks (23-24 overall, 12-9 second half), beginning at 6:35 p.m. Tuesday.
