PENINSULA COLLEGE: Harris-Williams, Padilla make North first team

VANCOUVER — A sextet of Peninsula College players were named to the All-North Region teams Wednesday.

Making the men’s first team is the Pirates’ leading scorer Davien Harris-Williams, who had some huge games for Peninsula down the stretch to help them make the Northwest Athletic Conference tournament. Harris-Williams is averaging 20.2 points a game and shooting 40 percent on his 3-point shots.

Selected to the second team is post player Malik Moore. Moore is averaging 11.4 points and 8.6 rebounds per game.

Sequim High School product Nate Despain earned a spot on the North’s All-Defensive team.

For the women, the Pirates’ leading scorer Leilani Padilla made the All-North First Team. She averaged 18.3 points a game, good for fifth in the entire NWAC, hitting 38.6 percent of her 3-pointers.

Named to the second team was the Pirates’ Logan Luke, a good all-around player who averaged 11.6 rebounds a game and 7.0 rebounds a game.

Making the All-Defensive team were both Luke and Pirates’ guard Kayla Johnson. Johnson averaged 2.5 steals a game.

The North MVP was Shoreline’s Anjaylo Loyd, who led the NWAC with 26.8 points a game, while the women’s MVP was Whatcom’s Madison Chisman.

The men’s coach of the year was Mike Trautman of Everett and the women’s coach of the year was Anthony Slater of Whatcom.

MVP — Anjaylo Loyd, Shoreline.

Freshman of the Year — Bobby Martin, Everett.

Second team — Logan Luke, Peninsula; Mel Frien, Skagit Valley; Natalie Amos, Bellevue; Lauriaunna Sanchez, Shoreline; Gabrielle Edison, Whatcom.
