PACIFIC 2B LEAGUE BASEBALL: Forks’ Gunner Rogers named league MVP

FORKS — After a dominant season both on the mound and at the plate, Forks baseball pitcher Gunner Rogers was named the Pacific 2B League Most Valuable Player.

Rogers helped lead the Spartans to a 14-6 record and berth in the postseason.

He was 9-3 with one save, starting 12 games. He had an ERA of 2.38 and struck out 64 batters in 53 innings, while walking just 18 batters. He pitched 6â…“ shutout innings in a postseason win over Kalama.

As a batter, Rogers hit .370 with six doubles and an OPS (on-base plus slugging) of .975. He drove in 25 runs in 20 games and scored 14 runs.

Making the first team was Spartans’ freshman Bubba Hernandez. He hit .491 with 18 RBIs. His OPS was 1.305.

The Spartans got four players on the second team — Landen Olson, Landin Davis, Aiden Salazar and Dylan Micheau.
