OLYMPIA — Salmon fishing east of the Bonilla-Tatoosh line in Marine Area 4 has been closed through Sept. 30, though wild coho west of the line remains open.
Meanwhile, in Marine Area 5 (Sekiu east to Low Point, Lyre River), Chinook and wild coho are closed, but a previously announced increased pink salmon daily limit remains in effect.
In Marine Area 5, the daily limit is two salmon, plus two additional pink salmon. All Chinook, chum and wild coho must be released.
The Kydaka Point Area (Waters south of a line from Kydaka Point westerly approximately four miles to Shipwreck Point) is closed.
Marine Area 4
The daily limit is two salmon west of the Bonilla-Tatoosh line. The Chinook minimum size is 24 inches, while the coho minimum size is 16 inches. There is no minimum size for other species of salmon, but all chum must be released.
According to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, the percentages of adipose- marked coho have been lower than expected in ocean salmon fisheries this season. Quotas have been adjusted downward to ensure that impacts to wild coho are not increased from preseason expected rates and will remain within conservation limits.
Marine Areas 1 through 4 are scheduled to close Sept. 30, but areas could close earlier if quotas are met.
Meanwhile, the outer coast area in Marine Area 3 south of Cape Alava to the mouth of the Queets River, wild coho can also be kept until Sept. 30. The daily limit is two salmon. The Chinook minimum size is 24 inches, while the coho minimum size is 16 inches. There is no minimum size for other species of salmon, but all chum must be released.
