PORT ANGELES — Professional snowboarder and local resident Jason Robinson will introduce Flying High Again, the latest award-winning film from Teton Gravity Research in its Olympic Peninsula premier at Field Arts & Events Hall tonight.

Robinson is featured in TGR’s ninth feature-length snowboarding movie, which was named the Pro Snowboarding Film of the Year at the 2023 International Freesports Film Festival in Whistler, B.C. Robinson will describe his work in the production led by director Mike Hatchett in collaboration with Todd and Steve Jones, co-founders of TGR.

“TGR is filming with Hollywood-quality cameras now, so the resolution is incredible. Also, the athletes are mic’d up and the microphones are synced to the cameras, so you can hear what the athletes are saying to themselves along with the sound of the boards on the snow,” Robinson said on KONP.

“It is great that we’re partnering with Field Hall to bring this film to the community. Field Hall has the equipment to show Flying High Again in high definition and with impeccable sound quality,” said Danielle Lawrence, volunteer with the Hurricane Ridge Winter Sports Education Foundation. “In fact, TGR was a little surprised when we requested such a high-resolution version because most venues where the film is shown don’t have that capability. Even if you’re not a snowboarding fan, it will be worthwhile to see this film just for the high production values.”

Doors will open at 5 p.m. for drinks and snacks, so this is an opportunity to sample Field Hall’s menu and bar before the film begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are available online at www.hurricane ridge.com — $15 for adults and $10 for youth and college students with student ID. Tickets will also be available at the door for $20.

The Hurricane Ridge Winter Sports Education Foundation will host a raffle at the event with Eddie Bauer gear, a White Claw snowboard, Mission Ridge tickets, a North Face tent donated by Brown’s Outdoor and several other items.

“This is going to be a great evening and an opportunity for people to get in the spirit of winter even though it’s not happening quite yet at the Ridge,” Lawrence said.

This event is sponsored and supported by the Hurricane Ridge Winter Sports Education Foundation, Brown’s Outdoor, Field Arts & Events Hall, NxNW Surf and Surfrider Foundation and serves as a fundraiser for the Hurricane Ridge Winter Sports Education Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
