OLYMPIC LEAGUE GIRLS SOCCER: Port Angeles’ Petty and Commerton joined by Sequim’s Johnson on first team all-league

PORT ANGELES — Record-breaking goal-scorer Tayrn Johnson of Sequim was joined by Port Angeles’ Anna Petty and Saylah Commerton as they were all named to the Olympic League first team for girls soccer.

It was the second straight year that all three players made the Olympic League first team. Petty and Commerton are both seniors while Johnson is a junior and will return for the Wolves next year.

Johnson set the record for most goals by a Sequim player this season. Petty was a midfielder for the Roughriders while Commerton was a goalkeeper.

Johnson set the all-time Sequim record with 42 career goals, a tally she will continue to add on to next year.

Commerton was part of 11 shutouts for the Riders her junior year and seven more this year. Coach Dan Horton called Petty a “coach on the field” for the Riders. Petty capped off her high school career with a two-goal game in the district playoffs to help beat Bremerton.
