PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Roughriders and Sequim Wolves shared the Olympic 2A League championship, and they dominated the Olympic 2A League all-league basketball selections.
Port Angeles’ leading scorer Eve Burke and point guard Bailee Larson made the first team, while Sequim’s Hannah Bates and twin towers Jelissa Julmist and Jolene Vaara all made first team. Vaara joins her brother John, who made the boys first team for Port Angeles.
Port Angeles’ Michael Poindexter was named the league’s coach of the year.
Also named to the first team were Sophia Baugh, North Kitsap; Brianna Jorgensen, Kingston; Grace Colburn, Bainbridge; and Rachel Youngman, North Mason.
Ellee Brockman of Kingston was named the league’s most valuable player.
Making the league’s second team were Anna Petty and Jenna McGoff of Port Angeles and Hannah Wagner and Lauryn Stephens of Sequim.
Other second-teamers include Evelyn Beers, North Kitsap; Bella Ramirez, Bainbridge; Ghadir Ramadan, Bainbridge; Trinity Malaga, Bremerton; Tulip Carter, Bremerton; Adrianne Tupelo, North Mason; and Tayana Ignacio, Olympic.
Making the sportsmanship team were McGoff and Bates. Other members of the sportsmanship team include Baugh, Colburn, Malaga, Youngman, Ignacio and Grace Epperson of Kingston.
