PORT TOWNSEND — The Redhawks picked up a huge twofer in Olympic League 1A Division awards, as Port Townsend’s Kaitlyn Meek and Kaiden Parcher were named the league’s girls and boys MVPs.
Also making first team for Port Townsend was forward Jackson Foster and guard Noa Montoya. Making the girls’ first team were Port Townsend’s Jaz Apker-Montoya and Izzy Hammett. Chimacum’s Mia McNair, a freshman, also made first team.
Meek had great all-around stats for the Redhawks at 13.3 points per game, 9.3 rebounds, 6.5 steals and 3.4 assists. She also shot 52 percent from the field. Apker-Montoya led the Redhawks with 14.4 points per game.
“Kaitlyn really deserved that honor,” said her coach Scott Wilson. “She’ll be playing in college.”
Parcher had a spectacular season for the Redhawks, averaging 17.9 points a game in league, 9.8 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 2.6 steals.
“He was all-league his sophomore and junior years, but he really came on his senior year,” said his coach Tom Webster.
Foster was a rebounding monster for the Redhawks, leading the Oympic League 1A Division with 14.8 boards per game. He also added 9.4 points a game. Montoya averaged 11 points a game.
The Coupeville boys and girls teams each won the league’s sportsmanship awards.
Because the Olympic League 1A Division has just four teams, only a first all-league team is named.
