NORTH OLYMPIC DISCOVERY MARATHON: Kids’ marathon medal art contest winners announced

PORT ANGELES — Dawn Munson of Dry Creek Elementary School was the grand prize winner this year in the eighth annual North Olympic Discovery Kids Marathon medal design contest.

A total of 63 submissions were turned in to the marathon.

Runner-up winners include Jennacee Abel, 9, Dry Creek Elementary; Presley Graham, 8, Dry Creek Elementary; and Sol Murdach, 7, Jefferson Elementary.

In recognition of their achievement, all winners are awarded complimentary entry into the NODM kids marathon, a certificate and a goody bag.

Everyone is invited to join the pre-marathon presentation honoring the young artists on June 1. The 21st annual kids marathon will take place at 3 p.m. June 1 at Port Angeles City Pier.

The NODM 5K and 10K will also take place June 1. The marathon and half-marathon take place on June 2.

The NODM is put on by the Port Angeles Marathon Association, which also puts on other Run the Peninsula events such as the Spruce Railroad Run in October, the Jamestown Glow Run in December, the Elwha Bridge Run that took place in February and the Sequim Railroad Run coming up on April 27.
