PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles and Sequim had a home gymnastics meet Wednesday at Klahhane Gymnastics Center against North Kitsap and Kingston.
Sequim gymnasts took three out of the top four individual all-arounds, but North Kitsap took the win overall. Team scores were North Kitsap with a 156.3, PA/Sequim with a 133.45 and Kingston third with 42.2
In the bars event, Sequim’s Susannah Sharp placed third with a 6.6, Kori Miller fourth with a 6.5, Lucy Spelker sixth with a 6.1 and Amara Brown 10th with a 4.4.
In the vault, Kori Miller was first with an 8.8, Sharp second with an 8.6 and Spelker 10th with a 7.6. In the beam, Spelker was second with an 8.6, Miller fourth with an 8.3 and Sharp 10th with a 7.1.
In the floor event, Miller was second with an 8.55, Spelker third with an 8.5 and Sharp fourth with an 8.3.
In the all around, Miller came in second with a 32.15, while Spelker was third with a 30.8 and Sharp fourth with a 30.6.
The meet honored seniors Miller and Port Angeles’ Chloe Notari.
Next up is the subdistrict meet on Feb. 9, where gymnasts will be competing to move onto districts set for Feb. 16.
Boys swimming
Port Angeles 121, Kingston 52
PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles boys swim team concluded their season with a 121-52 victory over the Kingston on Wednesday, finishing off their season with a 5-2 record.
The Roughiders took home first-place finishes in six individual events, along with all three relay events.
Alex Che and Landon Close led the charge, earning top points for the Riders. Che grabbed top honors in the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle races, while Close nabbed first in the 200 freestyle and 100 breaststroke.
Colby Ellefson and Blake Nahory were the other top performers for Port Angeles, with Ellefson first in the 100 butterfly and Nahory winning the 100 backstroke. Finn Thompson narrowly missed first place in the 200 individual relay, clocking in just .04 seconds behind a Kingston swimmer, but he still shaved 11 seconds from his previous best time.
The Roughriders dominated the relay events. The 200 medley team of Nahory, Aidan Butterworth, Close and Che swam a personal-best for the season, as did the 200 freestyle squad of Thompson, Nahory, Close and Che.
The 400 freestyle relay team of Hueter, Thompson, McClain, and Ellefson concluded the meet with a win.
Davis Hueter earned a spot at districts in his 200 freestyle swim setting a personal-best time of more than five seconds.
Will Roening qualified for districts in the 200 IM and Keane McClain followed suit in his 50 freestyle. Max Baeder also put up a solid swim in the 500 freestyle, dropping 3.5 seconds from his personal-best and putting him in striking distance of the districts time.
Charlie Kasten and Killian Waknitz also tackled their very first 500 freestyle. Both swimmers earned points for the Riders, as Kasten touched in fourth and Waknitz fifth.
Port Angeles will host the Olympic League Divisionals at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Shore Aquatic Center.
