LEFTIES: Victoria walks all over Port Angeles

PORT ANGELES — The Lefties find themselves within one loss of being eliminated from playoff contention after Victoria scored eight runs in the final three innings to run away with a 15-3 win at Civic Field on Tuesday night.

For the second straight game, walks hurt the Lefties as Port Angeles allowed 13 free passes.

It was a close game early with the Lefties down 3-2 in the third inning after Gavin Rork hit a two-run home run, his first four-bagger of the season.

After the HarbourCats scored a run in the fourth, they pulled away in the fifith, scoring three more runs to make it 7-2. They added two more runs in the seventh, three in the eighth and three more in the ninth.

Victoria’s Nick Adams hit two home runs, scored five runs and drove in three to lead the HarbourCats.

Rork went 2 for 4, drove in two runs and raised his batting average to .337. Dylan Cyr was 2 for 3 and Takayoshi was 2 for 3 with a run scored.

The Lefties (12-11) played Wednesday after press deadline and then conclude their regular-season home schedule at 6:35 p.m. today against the HarbourCats (16-6).

They must now win out to have a chance to pass Victoria for first place in the North Division. They also need some help against Wenatchee, which is tied with Victoria at 16-6.

The Lefties finish their regular season with three games on the road in Victoria from Friday through Sunday against the HarbourCats.

The Lefties have added several Port Angeles Roughriders and Wilder players to their roster for the final week. Port Angeles’ Bo Bradow, Jadon Seibel, Gavin Guerrero and Joel Wood are on the roster, as is Carson Jackson, a 2018 Port Angeles High School graduate and Evan Hurn, a 2016 Sequim High School graduate who will finish his college career at NCAA Division I Marshall next year.
