LEFTIES: Victoria drops Port Angeles with big first inning

Lefties/YMCA T-Ball Camp registration underway

PORT ANGELES — The aptly named Tanner Beltowski led off the contest and Victoria’s 10-run first inning with a base hit as the HarbourCats belted six doubles and bounced the Port Angeles Lefties 16-6 in a West Coast League contest at Civic Field on Monday evening.

Victoria put seven runs across before Port Angeles starter Kole Acker recorded his first out — the game’s eighth batter. Acker was pulled when the HarbourCats batted around and reliever Takuma Sato let three more Victoria baserunners cross the plate.

Jack Edmunds notched three hits in the game for the Lefties, including a two-run home run, and scored three runs. Edmunds has the team lead in home runs with five and is hitting .271 with 17 RBIs, tied for second on the team with Jeremy Giesegh.

Tommy Markey recorded his sixth three-hit game of the summer in the loss.

Lefties’ position player Chanz Doughty tossed two clean innings of relief to close out the game for Port Angeles (12-19).

The three-game series wraps tonight with the opening ceremonies of the 2025 North Washington Cal Ripken state championship before first pitch at 6:35 p.m.
