LEFTIES: Twelve walks lead Bells over Port Angeles

BELLINGHAM — Port Angeles pitchers combined to allow 12 Bellingham walks and dug a 6-0 hole on the way to a 6-5 loss to the Bells on Wednesday.

Long Beach State freshman Nathan Criswell started for the Lefties and didn’t last long, allowing a run while walking four and yielding one hit in 1 2/3 innings of work.

Bellingham also got to reliever Liam Paddock in the fifth inning to score three runs on two hits and three walks.

Port Angeles cut into the Bells’ lead by scoring five runs in its final three turns at bat.

A Colin Curry RBI single put the Lefties on the board when Weston Penninger scored in the seventh.

Port Angeles’ Ethan Flodstrom hit his first home run of the summer, a two-run bomb that scored B.Y. Choi, who reached on a single in the eighth inning.

Kemet Brown reached base and scored on an error by Bellingham, and Curry came home on a Riley Parker RBI single to cut the advantage to 6-5 with two outs in the ninth, but Flodstrom grounded out to second to end the contest.

Port Angeles (8-11) visits Kamloops (10-8) for a three-game set with the expansion North Paws beginning tonight at 6:35 p.m.
