LEFTIES: Road woes continue as losing streak hits five games

WENATCHEE — Port Angeles’ losing streak grew to five after falling to the Wenatchee Apple Sox 9-3 in the second game of a three-game series at Paul Thomas Field at Wenatchee Valley College on Wednesday night.

The Lefties (9-16) allowed 10 hits and nine walks in the game and yielded two four-run innings in the bottom of the third and eighth innings.

Trayson Kubo was tagged with the loss, chased from the game after allowing that four-run third inning.

Grant Fisher kept Port Angeles in the game in relief, allowing no runs on one hit and one walk while striking out four in 2 1/3 innings.

But Luke Fraeley struggled in his three innings on the hill, giving up the other five runs, all earned.

Bright spots for Port Angeles included Benny Kaleiwahea’s RBI ground-rule double, part of a two-hit night for the Lower Columbia product, and Taylor Adams’ second home run of the season, a solo shot with two outs in the top of the eighth.

Michael Ciancio also had two hits, including a double, and scored a run. His batting average is up to .326.
