LEFTIES: Portland pitchers two-hit Lefties

PORTLAND — The Port Angeles Lefties found out the new boys in the league can pitch.

After being five-hit Saturday in Portland, the Lefties had a two-hitter fired at them by a trio of Portland Pickles pitchers Sunday.

The Lefties’ Baxter Halligan pitched an outstanding game himself. He went six innings, giving up just one earned run on seven hits while striking out eight and walking none. However, he couldn’t get an offensive support and took the loss.

Dalton Harum and Halligan had the only two hits against the Pickles’ Damon Treadwell, Brad McVay and Brad Bonnefant, who also combined to strike out 14 Lefties.

Tristan Hanoian also walked three times and stole a base for the Lefties.

The Lefties (1-2) treveled to Bend to play the Bend Elks on Monday after press deadline. Their next game is at 6:35 p.m. today in Bend. The Lefties return to Port Angeles to start their first league homestand at 6:35 p.m. Friday against the Bellingham Bells.
