LEFTIES: Port Angeles shut out in finale vs. Bend

Lefties win series 2-1

PORT ANGELES — Four Bend Elks pitchers limited Port Angeles to just four hits and four walks, shutting out the Lefties 9-0 in the finale of a three-game series at Civic Field on Thursday night.

Elks starter Reid Madariaga went five full innings, allowing one hit and one walk while striking out six Lefties. He left the game buoyed by a 3-0 lead thanks to RBI singles by Paul Myro, Cayden Delozier and Elijah Jackson.

A two-run Lefties error in the sixth added to the Elks’ advantage, and Bend plated three to put the game out of reach in the eighth, scoring on a bases-loaded walk and a two-run single by Nick Schnoop.

Oregon State’s Wilson Webber homered in the ninth, the lone home run of the series.

Port Angeles got hits from Golden Tate (now batting .364), Ethan Flodstrom, a double by B.Y. Choi, who is hitting .350 through 40 at-bats, and Cal-State San Bernadino’s Derek Bogh.

Port Angeles (7-7) sat third in the North Division, 1 1/2 games back of first-place Bellingham heading into a three-game weekend set at home against South Division opponent Walla Walla (3-5).
