PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles blew the game open late, scoring seven runs in the seventh and eighth innings in a series-clinching 10-3 win over Nanaimo at Civic Field on Thursday.
Owen Alsup gave Port Angeles the lead, blooping a two-run single to right field with the bases loaded and no outs in the seventh.
With a drawn in infield Kam Koester, fisted a line drive through the middle to score two more runs.
Shea Blanchard gave a strong starting effort for Port Angeles.
He battled through the first four innings, striking out two and only allowing one run.
Lucas Hines was strong for Nanaimo over the first 4.2 innings. His only mistake was a two-run blast inside the left field foul pole to hot-hitting Lefties’ catcher, Chase Taylor.
The Nightowls tied the game in the seventh after trailing 3-1 on a two-run single from Elijah Ickes before the late Port Angeles rally.
Weston Peninger, Nelson Smith and CJ Lewis combined for five innings out of the bullpen, surrendering just two earned runs.
Port Angeles (7-11) hosts Kelowna tonight at 6:35 p.m. and Sunday at 1:35 p.m.
