LEFTIES: Port Angeles breaks up no-hitter, can’t complete rally

Swept by Corvallis

PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles’ attempt at a late-inning comeback fell short in a 4-3 loss to Corvallis as the Knights closed out a three-game sweep of the Lefties at Civic Field on Wednesday.

The Lefties were limited to two hits in the loss, but managed to score a pair of runs in the seventh on a Carson Crawford sacrifice fly and an error by Corvallis pitcher Jackson Arnsdorf.

Port Angeles loaded the bases in the ninth, breaking up the Knights’ no-hit bid when Trevor Tishenkel singled, Jack Holman was hit by a pitch and Crawford walked.

Kai Staterstrom drove in a run with a single, but the potential tying run was left stranded at third on a Javi Espinoza strikeout.

Port Angeles (2-4) visits Walla Walla for a three-game series starting tonight.
