PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Lefties brought their trademark boomsticks back out in beating Kelowna 16-6 for their fourth straight win.
The Lefties, leading the West Coast League with 32 home runs in 29 games, hit three home runs Tuesday night to add to their total. Ron Brown and Dalton Harum hit two-run shots, while Jason Dicochea hit a solo home run.
The Lefties jumped all over the Falcons early, blowing up for seven runs in the second inning, then adding two in the third and four more in the fourth to put the game completely out of reach.
Triston Busse won his second straight game, pitching 1 1/3 innings of scoreless ball in relief to lower his ERA to 1.50. Avery Santos started, going 2 2/3 innings and giving up three runs, none of them earned. Matthew Dunaway and Niall Silverman pitched the final four innings, giving up no runs on three hits while striking out three.
The 16-run game was the Lefties’ eighth game this season with 10 or more runs. The Lefties are also leading the West Coast League with 205 runs in 29 games, an average of 7.1 runs a game, and have scored 52 runs over their past four games.
The Lefties tallied 16 hits and seven walks, plus two hit batsmen for 25 baserunners. Justin VanDebrake went 3 for 5 with a double, run scored and three RBIs, while Dicochea was 2 for 4 with a double, home runs, three runs scored, an RBI and a stolen base. Brown was 1 for 2 with his home run, two runs scored, a hit by pitch and two RBIs, and Rykker Tom was 2 for 2 with two runs scored and a walk.
Harum was 1 for 3 with a home run, a walk, two runs scored and two RBIs. Matthew Christian was 1 for 5 with a run and his 16th RBI of the season. Evan Pace was 1 for 3 with a run scored, an RBI and two walks. Cameron Allie was 1 for 2 with a run, an RBI and two walks.
The Lefties (14-15, 2-0 in the second half) played Wednesday night after press deadline. They get tonight off and then begin a three-game series hosting Yakima at 6:35 p.m. Friday.
