LEFTIES: Port Angeles bats quiet in 8-2 loss to Corvallis

PORT ANGELES — University of Portland product Conner Knutson pitched six solid innings as the Corvallis Knights quieted the Port Angeles Lefties bats in an 8-2 win Wednesday at Civic Field.

Knutson allowed one run on four hits and struck out seven Lefties as the Knights won their seventh straight game and picked up a series victory over Port Angeles (8-9).

The Lefties took a 1-0 lead when Knutson hit Jason Dicochea with a pitch to open the bottom of the second inning, Dicochea moved to third on a double by Rykker Tom and scored on Brennan Rozell’s groundout to second.

Corvallis did all the damage it would need offensively with four runs in the fourth on an RBI single by Zach Weller, an RBI double by Trace Tammaro and a two-run single by Cole Hamilton.

Port Angeles’ Matt Christian hit his third home run of the season, a solo shot in the seventh inning, to account for the Lefties other run.

Port Angeles and Corvallis wrapped the three-game series after press time Thursday.

The Lefties host North Division cellar-dweller Wenatchee (5-8) for a three-game series starting tonight at 6:35.
