LEFTIES: Offense limited in loss

WENATCHEE — The Lefties’ bats never got on track against Wenatchee as a pair of AppleSox pitchers fired a five-hitter in a 7-1 win over Port Angeles.

Only three Lefties got hits in Tuesday’s loss. Jason Dicochea went 2 for 4 and Matthew Boissoneault went 2 for 2 with a double, a walk and run scored. Cameron Allie also had a hit.

The Lefties did have a chance to get back in the game in the seventh when they were down 5-0. Boissoneault hit a double, Allie hit a single and Tristan Hanoian was hit by a pitch to load the bases with no outs. But, AppleSox reliever Karver Pate ended the threat by striking out the side, allowing just one run on a passed ball.

Riley Beneditti took the loss for the Lefties. He went 6 1/3 innings, and gave up six earned runs on six hits, two walks and three striekouts. Erik Haugen and Kyle Schimpf pitched well in relief, going 1 2/3 innings, giving up no hits, no runs and three walks while striking out two.

The Lefties (8-14 second half) played Wenatchee (10-10 second half) after press deadline last night. They return to Civic Field for a West Coast League season-ending three-game series against the Portland Pickles (16-6) beginning at 6:35 p.m. Friday.
