PORT ANGELES — A continued lack of late-inning luck sent the Port Angeles Lefties to a 3-2 defeat at the hands of the cross-Strait rival Victoria HarbourCats in a quick two-hour, nine-minute game Tuesday at Civic Field.
The late letdown served as Port Angeles’ fourth one-run defeat in West Coast League games and spoiled starting pitcher Seth Wrightstone’s stellar evening on the mound.
Wrightstone went eight full innings, allowing one earned run on four hits and a walk while striking out seven.
Victoria was able to touch reliever Ian Hoffstetter for a single, Hoffstetter uncorked a wild pitch and the HarbourCats made Port Angeles pay, with Dillon Lopez depositing the eventual game-winning, two-run home run over the fence.
The Lefties loaded the bases with none out in the home half of the ninth on a Dom Dominguez walk and singles by Jeremy Giesegh and Tyler Shulman, but only could bring home one run on an error by a Victoria pitcher.

Kids’ skills clinics
The Lefties will host baseball skills camps for ages 6-12 at Civic Field this month.
The camps will be held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Monday and from 10 a.m. to noon July 21 and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 28.
The cost is $30 per session and registration will begin 45 minutes before start time.
All skill levels are welcome.
T-Ball camp July 22-24
The annual Lefties/Port Angeles YMCA T-Ball Camp for ages 4-6 will be held July 22-24.
The camp will be held at Civic Field from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. each day.
Attendees will be welcomed onto the field before the July 24 Lefties home game.
The cost is $45 for non-members, $35 for members.
