KLAHHANE GYMNASTICS: PA brothers win big at Western championship

CHANDLER, Ariz. — Port Angeles’ Liam DeWolf, 14, placed second in the all-around and brother Conor DeWolf, 16, placed fourth in the all-around at the 2024 Men’s Western National Championship meet Friday in Chandler, Ariz.

The meet featured men’s gymnasts from 25 states. Conor and Liam train at and compete for Klahhane Gymnastics. At this meet, they competed for Cascade Elite Gymnastics West located in Silverdale, where the boys train on Saturdays.

Liam is bringing home an array of medals and the new title of Level 9 Floor and Rings Western National Champion. He placed first on the floor with a 13.1, first on the rings with a 12.4, second on the vault with 12.3, third on the high bar and second in the all-around with a score of 71.25.

Conor walked away with the title of Level 9 Rings and Vault Western National Champion. He placed second on the floor with a 12.85, first on the rings with an 11.9, first on the vault with a 12.8 and fourth in the all-around with a 70.5.

Conor and Liam’s dad and coach, Pat DeWolf, attended the meet as the main coach for the CEGW boys team.

A few weeks ago, the brothers competed at the 2024 Men’s Region 2 Regional Championships in Everett, where they also won big. Conor placed first on the vault, first on the parallel bars and second all-around. Liam placed first on the vault and fourth all-around. The USAG Region 2 consists of Washington, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Alaska.

This tops off a hugely successful competition season for the boys, which included Washington State first-place all-around champion titles in the Level 9 Junior Nationals Division at the 2024 Washington State men’s championship meet in March.

Conor and Liam were raised in the rigorous Japanese system at MAC Taisou, one of the strictest and more famous men’s gymnastics gyms that has produced five Olympians and many national team members.
