HIGH SCHOOL GYMNASTICS: Port Angeles, Sequim gymnasts qualify for district

TUMWATER — Sequim and Port Angeles gymnasts competed against seven other schools last week in the 2A/3A subdistrict meet, with girls from both schools qualifying for the district meet in Kent on Thursday.

Qualifying in the all-around was Susannah Sharp, who took sixth with a score of 31.125. She took eighth in vault with 8.475, seventh on bars with 6.80 and fourth on floor with an 8.75.

Lucy Spelker also moves on to district with a 28.725 in the all-around. She finished fourth in the vault (8.70) and sixth on the floor with an 8.425. Madison Ripley qualified in the floor exercise and the vault.

Port Angeles’ Scarlett Sullivan qualified in the all-around with a fifth-place score of 31.25. She placed fifth in vault with an 8.6, sixth in the bars with a 6.9 and fourth in the beam with an 8.40.

Port Angeles took third overall with a team score of 115.25. The last time Port Angeles went to district as a team was 2017.
