HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL: Sequim boys concede district tournament seed to Olympic; no tiebreaker game Monday.

The Sequim boys basketball team has elected to concede the Olympic League’s top seed and first-round bye in this week’s West Central District tournament to Olympic.

The Wolves and the Trojans, who are the league’s co-champions, were scheduled to have a tiebreaker Monday night to determine the top seed, but Sequim has decided instead to forego the game in favor of preparing and getting healthy for the district tournament.

Head coach Greg Glasser and Sequim athletic director Dave Ditlefsen informed the Peninsula Daily News of the decision Sunday afternoon.

The Wolves will face Steilacoom in a loser-out game Wednesday at Lakes High School in Tacoma. The game will tip-off at 6 p.m.

Olympic is off until Friday, when it will play the winner of Wednesday’s North Kitsap-White River game in the double-elimination phase of the district playoffs.

Elsewhere on the North Olympic Peninsula, the Port Townsend boys and girls both won their pigtail games Saturday, and will move on to the first round of the 1A tri-district tournament.

The girls team, which beat Charles Wright 52-49 in overtime, will play at Overlake on Wednesday. The boys will host the Blaine Borderites on Tuesday.

The Crescent girls and Forks and Clallam Bay boys all saw their seasons end Saturday.
