GYMNASTICS: Port Angeles/Sequim/Crescent combined team third in host meet

PORT ANGELES — A combined Port Angeles/Sequim/Crescent gymnastics team came in a close third place in the Port Angeles Gymnastics Meet held Monday at Klahhane Gym.

Port Angeles/Sequim/Crescent had 154.75 points, while North Thurston had 173.30 and North Kitsap 161. Kingston finished fourth with 86.30 points.

Emma Sharp of Sequim had the best local showing, finishing seventh overall out of 26 competitors who competed in all four disciplines. She finished with 32.4 points. Haley Smith of North Thurston won with 36.75 points.

In individual disciplines, Aiesha Latourette of Port Angeles had the best showing with an 8.9 in the beam, good for second place. Latourette was 12th overall with 31.45 points.

In the overall scores, Sequim’s Korinne Miller was 13th with a score of 30.20, Sequim’s Lesae Pfeffer was 15th at 30.10, Sequim’s Gracie Sharp was 16th at 29.50, Sequim’s Lainy Vig was 17th at 28.10.

Port Angeles’ Maizie Tucker was 19th at 27.50, Sequim’s Ellie Turner was 21st at 25.90, Crescent’s Aubrie Scott was 24th at 23.40 and Port Angeles’ Lisi Hanson was 26th at 21.90.

As a team, Port Angeles/Sequim/Crescent was second in the vault and third in the beam, the bars and in the floor exercise.

Vault

In other individual events, Emma Sharp was fourth in the vault with a score of 8.3 and Latourette was sixth in the same vent with an 8.25. Miller and Vig finished tied for seventh in the vault with an 8.2. Other area competitors include Grace Sharp, 15th, 7.9; Brooklynne Jacobs, Port Angeles, 7.7, 16th; Turner, 17th, 7.7; Pfeffer, 18th, 7.5; Maizie Tucker, Port Angeles, 19th, 7.4; Scott, 30th, 7.0 and Lisi Hanson, Port Angeles, 33rd, 6.4.

In the team scores, North Thurston was first in the vault at 42.75, Port Angeles second at 40.85 and North Kitsap third at 40.4.

Floor

Emma Sharp was eighth in the floor exercise with a score of 8.8, while Latourette was 10th with a score of 8.45, Gracie Sharp and Pfeffer were 11th, each with a score of 8.4.

Other scores include, Miller, 16th, 8.2; Tucker, 20th, 7.5; Vig, 23rd, 7.3; Tuner, 34th, 6.7; Scott, 35th, 6.6; Hanson, 38th, 6.3; Molly Scofield, Port Angeles, 43rd, 5.9.

In the team scores, North Thurston took the floor with a score of 46.05; North Kitsap was second at 43.2, Port Angeles third at 42.25 and Kingston fourth at 32.7.

Bars

Emma Sharp was ninth in the bars with a 7.0, while Miller was 10th with a 6.4 and Gracie Sharp was 11th with a 6.2. Turner was 13th with a 6.0, Latourette was 14th with a 5.85, Tucker and Pfeffer tied for 15th, each at 5.8 and Vig was 20th with a score of 5.4.

Other scores include Hanson, 31st, 3.5; Scofield, 32nd, 3.4; and Scott, 33rd, 3.3.

In the team scores, North Thurston won the bars at 40.8, while North Kitsap was second at 34.6, Port Angeles third at 31.45 and Kingston fourth at 18.2.

Beam

Other Olympic Peninsula girls in the beam include Pfeffer, who was 11th with a score of 8.4; Emma Sharp, 13th at 8.3; Miller, 17th with a score of 7.4 and Vig, 19th with a score of 7.2.

Other scores include Grace Sharp, 22nd, 7.0; Tucker, 24th, 6.8; Scott, 28th, 6.5; Jacobs, 33rd, 5.9; Hanson, 35th, 5.7; Turner, 36th, 5.6.

In the beam, North Thurston won at 43.7, North Kitsap was second at 42.8, Port Angeles third at 40.2 and Kingston fourth at 35.4.
