GYMNASTICS: PA-Sequim squad wins pair of meets

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles/Sequim/Crescent combined gymnastics squad held its home meet against North Kitsap last week, beating the Vikings by a score of 149.7-143.65.

The team is holding three meets this year, with a meet at the end of May in Kingston, one last week hosted in Port Angeles and the third at Bainbridge.

Against North Kitsap on Wednesday, Alex Schmadeke of Sequim took first overall with a score of 32.45. Emma Sharp of Sequim was third at 31.25, while Susannah Sharp of Sequim was fifth at 27.8. Mei-Ying Harper Smith of Port Angeles was fifth with 27.6 points.

In the vault, Emma Sharp won with an 8.4, while Susannah Sharp was third with 8.35. Schmadeke was fourth with an 8.25 and Kori Miller of Sequim was sixth with an 8.2.

In the bars, Schmadeke took first with a 7.15, Miller was third with a 7.1, Susannah Sharp was fifth with a 5.8 and Harper-Smith sixth with a 5.65.

On the beam, Emma Sharp came in first place with an 8.85 and Schmadeke was third with an 8.2.

In the floor exercise, Schmadeke took second with an 8.85, while Emma Sharp was third with an 8.6.

On May 29, Port Angeles/Sequim/Crescent finished with a team score of 146.55 at a meet against Kingston, which did not have enough gymnasts for a team score.

Schmadeke again won the all-around with 31.35 total points. Emma Sharp was second at 30.05, Harper-Smith third (28.7), Susannah Sharp fourth (27.7) and Aubrie Scott of Crescent sixth (23.6).

In the vault, Susannah Sharp came in first with an 8.15, Emma Sharp was second with a 7.9, Harper-Smith third with a 7.85, Maizie Tucker fourth with a 7.6, Ellie Turner of Sequim fifth with a 7.35 and Schmadeke sixth with a 7.0.

On the bars, Schmadeke was first with a 7.0, Susannah Sharp second with a 6.1, Harper-Smith third (6.0), Emma Sharp fourth (5.9) and Turner sixth (4.3).

On the beam, Schmadeke won again with a 7.8, Emma Sharp was second with a 7.7, Harper-Smith third (7.4), Tucker fourth (7.2), Amara Brown of Sequim fifth (7.1) and Scott sixth (7.0).

In the floor exercise, Schmadeke came in first with an 8.65, Emma Sharp was second (8.55), Susannah Sharp third (7.55), Harper-Smith fourth (7.45), Tucker fifth (6.9) and Scott sixth (6.2).

The team also had a meet Friday at Bainbridge, but results are not yet available.
