Gymnastics: Klahhane XCEL Bronze team takes first place at Harvest Fest

MUKILTEO — The Klahhane Gymnastics XCEL Bronze team opened its competition season with a first-place team win at the Harvest Fest meet hosted by GYMagine Gymnastics in Mukilteo on Saturday.

The Bronze gymnasts, age eight to 10 years old, earned top honors and seven of the nine gymnasts qualified for the state competition, achieving all-around scores of 35.0 or higher.

Remarkably, this meet marked the first official USA Gymnastics-sanctioned event for these gymnasts, many of whom were members of the pre-team last year and had only participated in practice meets.

Adrie McGuire delivered an outstanding performance, earning the highest all-around score of the entire Bronze-level session with a 36.150. She and several other gymnasts qualified for state.

McGuire was first on the beam with a 9.25, second on the vault with a 9.2, fifth on the bars (9.0) and seventh on the floor (8.7).

Also qualifying for state were:

Penny Goodwin, who was second on the bars (9.2), second on the floor (8.9), third on the beam (9.0) and second all-around with a 35.70.

Kinley Matthews, who was first on the vault (9.3), first on the floor (9.2) and third in the all-around with a 35.55.

Aubrie Huisman, who was first on the bars (9.3), fifth on the beam (8.9) and fourth in the all-around (35.2).

Reagan Haguewood, who was third on the vault (8.95) and sixth in the all-around (35.15).

Addie Brown was fourth on the floor with an 8.8 and seventh in the all-around with a 35.0.

Lucy Monaghan was second in the floor with an 8.9, fourth on the vault with an 8.9 and seventh in the all-around with a 35.0.

Other gymnasts who did well were Sasha Gmazel, who was sixth on the vault (8.8) and 11th all-around with a 34.55, and Nora Pecoraro, who was 14th in the all-around with a 34.0.
