PORT ANGELES — The Klahhane Gymnastics Team opened its season with back-to-back weekend competitions at the Aloha Invitational at Seattle Pacific University on Jan. 31 and the Freedom Invitational on Jan. 24-25.
Klahhane’s Gold Team won a first-place trophy at the Aloha Invitational and the Bronze Team came in second. At the Freedom Invitational, the Gold Team came in second while the Silver and Bronze teams both came in third.
At the Aloha Invitational, the Gold Team’s MeiYing Harper-Smith was first all-around with a 38.05. She was first on the uneven bars (9.85), the balance beam (9.65) and the floor exercise (9.50). She was third in the vault (9.05.)
Kayle Sexton was second on the vault with a 9.10, while Ava Harris scored an 8.6 on the floor exercise, qualifying to the state meet as a floor exercise specialist.
In the junior B age group, Jessamyn Schindler was first in the all-around with a 36.80. She was first in the vault (9.35), the uneven bars (9.30), second in the floor exercise (9.325) and third in the vault (9.05).
In the junior A age group, Scarlett Sullivan was first in the uneven bars (9.4) and third in the all-around with a 35.775.
In the silver team senior age group, Kira Hartman was second in the floor exercise with a 9.1 and Lauren Cline was third in the balance beam. In the junior age group, Mariah Traband was first in the floor exercise (9.55) and third in the all-around (37.15). Coralie Lewis was fifth in the floor exercise with a 9.05.
In the Bronze Team, Harper Hilliker was first in the vault (9.35), second in the uneven bars (9.325) and second in the all-around (36.975). Lainey DePiro was second in the floor exercise with a 9.225.
Gracelyn Goss was first in the uneven bars (9.45) and first in the balance beam (9.3). Ashayla Holloway was first in the balance beam (9.30) and Elyse Brown was third in the vault (9.3).
In the Freedom Invitational, Harper Smith, competing in the Gold Team junior age group was first in the uneven bars (9.55), first in the balance beam (9.55) and third in the floor exercise (9.125).
In the Gold Team child age group, Schindler was second in the vault (9.275) and fourth in the all-around (35.475).
Competing with the Silver Team, Lauren Cline in the child age group was third in the balance beam (9.3) and fourth in the all-around (36.75). Kenna Pittman in the child age group was fourth in the uneven bars (9.4) and Mariah Traband had a 9.1 in the vault.
For the Bronze Team child age group, Gracelyn Goss was first in the uneven bars (9.525) and second in the all-around (36.925). Hilliker was third in the vault (9.35) and third in the all-around (36.55). Raynee Ciarlo was second in the uneven bars (9.375) and Depiro was second in the floor exercise (9.1).
In the Bronze Team’s junior age group, Holloway was second in the uneven bars with a 9.325.
Klahhane’s next competition will be The Biggest Little Meet on Feb. 16 at Gymagine Gymnastics in Mulkilteo.
