SHELTON — Klahhane Gymnastics competed in the inaugural Skookum Challenge in Shelton this weekend.
On Sunday, the teams returned with a second-place team trophy for the silver team and a third-place trophy for the bronze team.
Using a “Let’s Glow” Theme, the meet featured black light opening and award ceremonies.
Competing Saturday, the Gold Division team performed well, with MeiYing Harper-Smith taking second all-around (37.100). Harper-Smith was first on the vault and second in the bars, beam and floor.
Klahhane’s Scarlett Sullivan was second in the Child Division, scoring 35.125 in the all-around. She was second in the floor exercise and third on the bars.
Kayli Sexton took second in the vault in the Jr. B Division (9.025) and third on bars (9.150). Ava Harris also performed well, qualifying for the state meet as an individual in the uneven bars.
First place in both divisions went to Rigert Gymnastics, a large contingent from Troutdale, Ore.
In the Silver Division Jr. A age group, Mariah Traband (37.350) and Kira Hartman (36.675) went one-two in the all-around while Lauren Cline (37.475) finished second and Kenna Pittman (36.825) fourth in Junior B age group. Coralie Lewis had a personal best of 36.150.
In the Bronze Division Jr A age group, Harper Hilliker (36.675) and Gracelyn Goss (36.650) dueled for second and third place in the all-around with only .025 separating their scores.
In the Jr. B age group, Lainey DePiro (37.050) took third in the all-around. Elyse Brown (36.675) finished fifth. Ashayla Hollowy (9.475) did well in the balance beam and Raynee Ciarlo (9.250) performed well on the bars.
The entire team has qualified for the state gymnastics meets. They have one competition remaining on March 21-22 to tune up.
The gold team will compete in the state competition April 24-26 at Everett Community College, and the bronze and silver teams will travel to Kennewick for their state competition May 1-3.
