PORT ANGELES — Klahhane Gymnastics had a busy weekend as the girls team competed at the Skookum Showdown on Friday and Sunday, while the boys team competed at the Washington State Championships on Saturday.
In Friday’s competition, Elyse Brown led the gold team, bringing home five medals with an all-around first place (37.60) in the Junior B age group.
Brown picked up additional gold medals on the vault (9.4); uneven bars (9.475) and balance beam (9.40) and a bronze medal in the floor exercise (9.325).
Raynee Ciarlo finished third in the vault (9.00) in the same age group. Dalen Williams finished third in the floor (9.20) and fourth all-around (35.25).
In the Senior A age group, Harper Hilliker and Gracelyn Goss picked up individual medals in the Junior A age group. Hilliker finished second on the vault (8.70) and second in the floor (9.175). Goss took fourth on the vault and uneven bars with scores of 6.675 in both events.
In the Platinum division, Scarlett Sullivan led the group with a third-place finish in the all-around (36.675) and a silver medal in the floor exercise (9.30). Mariah Traband finished third on the uneven bars (9.05) and fifth all-around (35.35).
Kira Hartman had a 34.075 all-around to qualify to the state meet in Pasco from March 31 to April 2. Lucy Spelker earned an individual third-place medal in the floor exercise (9.15) and fifth in the all-around (35.70).
In the Men’s Washington State Competition at Everett Community College on Saturday, Connor DeWolf finished fourth in the Level 9 14-15 age group with a 68.15 all-around. DeWolf took gold medals on the rings (12.1) and high bar (11.4). He tied for a silver medal on the vault (12.3). Competing in the same age group, Liam DeWolf claimed the gold medal on the floor (12.6) and fourth on the pommel horse (11.1).
On Sunday, the girls bronze team wrapped up the weekend with another excellent performance at the Skookum Showdown, bringing back 30 top-three medals. Lainey DePiro claimed the group’s highest score of the day with 38.10 in the all-around in the Senior A age group, finishing first on the vault (9.60) and floor (9.50) and second on the bars (9.60) and beam (9.40).
CarlyMae Riggs and Charlotte Nevill went 1-2 in the Child A division. Riggs took the gold medal in the all-around (38.05), the vault (9.65), bars (9.70), beam (9.50) and silver on the floor (9.20). Nevill picked up silver medals for all-around (37.30), vault (9.50), bars (9.40) and beam (9.25). She was fourth in the floor (9.15).
In the Child B age group, Makinlee Thomason was second all-around (36.40) and first on the floor (9.2). Payton Lindley took second all-around in Child C (37.60) and first on the vault and bars, scoring 9.65 on both events.
In the Junior A age group, Morgan Smith and Raeleigh Thomason claimed the top two places on the podium. Smith was first all-around (37.70) and claimed a top-three medal in every event — first in the vault (9.5), bars (9.55) and floor (9.35) and second in the beam (9.30).
Thomason was second in the all-around (37.25), with a first on the beam (9.35) and second on the vault (9.3) and floor (9.3).
