GYMNASTICS: Klahhane gymnast Carly Mae Riggs wins first all-around at regionals

BOISE, Idaho — Klahhane Gymnastics Carly Mae Riggs won the first-place all-around Xcel gold championship title at the USA Gymnastics Region 2 Xcel Regional Championships this weekend.

Riggs won first place all-around at both state and regionals in 2023 as a bronze gymnast, as well.

In Boise, she also placed third on the individual beam event and third in the floor exercise.

Riggs was one of four Klahhane gymnasts who competed.

Elyse Brown, competing as an Xcel platinum, was second in the floor with a score of 9.55, adding to her first-place medal in the floor at state a few weeks ago. Paytynn Lindley, competing as a gold Xcel, was fifth in the beam with a score of 9.275.

The gymnasts were joined by Klahhane coaches Kelsey Walsh and Steve Rodriguez. Walsh said the girls showed up with great attitudes, kept their nerves well in check and were all extremely supportive of each other.

USAG Region 2 consists of Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington.

The next meet for Klahhane will be the Garden City Invitational on May 17-19 in Victoria, B.C., hosted by Falkon Gymnastics.
