SEQUIM — The Sequim Health and Rehabilitation team of Michael Littman, Sid Krumpe, Mark Mitrovich, Chris Rose and former Huskies basketball star John Buller beat 39 other teams to win the 11th annual Sonny Sixkiller UW Huskies Celebrity Golf Classic presented by Wilder Auto Center at Cedars at Dungeness Golf Course this weekend.

The event held Friday raised a record net $101,000 for the Olympic Medical Center Foundation — the tournament’s beneficiary and the organizer along with the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe and Cedars at Dungeness Golf Course.

Each of the 40 foursomes in the tournament were joined by a Huskies celebrity. Former Huskies quarterback Sonny Sixkiller, who led the nation in passing in 1971, recruited the celebrities, several of whom were Huskies and NFL greats, including Lincoln Kennedy, who went on to a stellar career as an offensive lineman with the Oakland Raiders.

Also playing were three former University of Washington stars who graduated from Sequim and Port Angeles High schools. Scott Jones, 1984 Port Angeles graduate, is the only member of the Roughriders to play in the NFL and played in the tournament. Other players included former Roughriders baseball star Matt Lane, who was the starting catcher for the Huskies from 2004-2006, and Sequim High graduate Derrin Doty, who starred for the Huskies baseball team from 1990-1993.
