GOLF: Mike Mullikin wins Sunland Men’s Club Championship fourth straight year

PORT ANGELES — Mike Mullikin won the 2020 Men’s Club Championship and Bobbie Piety won the Seattle Women’s Golf Association Club championship at Sunland Golf and Country Club last week.

Mullikin had a three-day gross score of 240 (82-81-77) to win the championship for the fourth year in a row. Winning the men’s Net Club Championship was Tom Chirhart with a three-day net score of 215 (1 under par). Both Millikin and Chirhart won $120 golf shop prizes.

Piety won the SWGA Club Championship with a three-day score of 271 (93-92-86), while the women’s Net Club Champion was Carol Deckman with a three-day net score of 200 (13 under par). Both Piety and Deckman won $120 golf shop credits.

Flight winners include:

Flight 1 Gross — Jay Tomlin, first, 242, $75 prize; Roger Olsen, second, 253, $45 prize; Greg Mullikin, third, 254, $23.25.

Flight 1 Net — Ken Orth, first, 217 (1 over par), $60 prize, John Sims, first, 217 (1 over par), $60 prize; Stuart Gunn, third, 234 (18 over par), $23.25 prize.

Flight 2 Gross — Jim Deckman, first, 269, $75 prize; Gary Hester, 277, second, $45 prize.

Flight 2 Net — Mike Leftwich, first, 227 (11 over par), $75; Frank Herodes, second 228, (12 over par), $34.13 prize, Wayne Nordyke, second, 228 (12 over par), $34.13.

SWGA Flight winners include:

Flight 1 Gross — Cyndi Carpine, first, 284, $75 golf shop credit; Gail Flynn, second, 286, $45 prize; Cheryl Coulter, third, 291, $23.25.

Flight 1 Net — Cynthia Edel, first, 213 (even par), $75 prize; Janet Real, second, 216 (3 over par), $45 prize; Alice Myers, third, 221 (8 over par), $23.25 prize.

Flight 2 Gross — Sherry Meythaler, first, 302, $75 prize; Nan Godfrey, second, 314, $45 prize; Mary Kubas-Meyer, third, 327, $23.25 prize.

Flight 2 Net — Dana Burback, first, 217 (4 over par), $75 prize; Linda Collet, second, 220 (7 over par), $45; Nonie Dunphy, third, 221 (8 over par), $23.25 prize.

Crab and Crabette

SEQUIM — Emily Cook and Shane Quinet won the 2020 Crab and Crabette Chamiponship held at Cedars at Dungeness Aug. 8.

Cook and Quinet won by four strokes with a 136. They shot a 66 in their first round and a 70 in the second round. Coming in second was Gary and Marcy Holt, who combined to shoot a 140 (71, 69).

The net winners were Yoon Park and Harold Whitehead with a 122 (61, 61), winning by a single stroke over Kathy Langston and Jerry Pedersen (57, 66).

Cook and Quinet also won the Flight One, while Pedersen and Langston won the second flight with a gross score of 153 (72, 81). Winning Flight Three was Park and Whitehead with a gross score of 160.

Winning the Flight One net championship were Gary and Marcy Holt, Jim and Jeanie Chase and Mike and Marsha Bauman, who all tied with a 134.

Winning the Flight Two net championship were Tanisha Bemis and Brandon Pederson with a 126, while Cynthia Carpine and Nicholas Bamer won the Flight Three net championship with a 128.

Cook and Quinet won a $100 purse for their overall championship and a $260 purse for winning Flight One. The teams of Langston/Pedersen and Whitehead/Park also won $260 purses for winning their respective flights.

The Baumans, Chases and Holts all won purses of $181.67 for their three-way net score tie in Flight One, while the teams of Peterson/Bemis and Bamer/Carpine each won $260 purses for winning their net flight championships.

A total of 49 teams and 98 golfers participated in the event.
