PENINSULA GOLF CLUB head golf pro Jacob Lippold checked in with information on the club’s upcoming Wednesday Merchant League and a low-priced membership promotion perfect for the upcoming golf season.
Lippold said there was still time to sign up for the weekly nine-hole merchant league that tees it up every Wednesday evening.
The cost is $40 to sponsor a team of up to eight players.
Each team must have at least four players play each week to be eligible for maximum points.
“This league has been running smoothly for several years and welcomes golfers of all abilities,” Lippold said.
“It is a great way to enjoy camaraderie and competition with your peers and win points and prizes along the way.”
Merchant League participants pay a discounted green fee of $16 with an additional $4 going to weekly individual and team competition.
Associate discount
Lippold also said Peninsula Golf Club is waiving the initiation fee for its associate membership for the first 10 golfers/families that sign up.
The associate membership is a nonequity membership that grants full golfing and clubhouse privileges for $182 a month including tax.
The first 10 in on the promotion will see the $250 initiation fee waived.
“This membership requires a minimum eight month commitment, so take advantage of it early to maximize the best months of the golf season this year,” Lippold said.
Family memberships are also available under this promotion for $225 per month.
Peninsula Golf Club also offers discounted Junior Equity memberships for ages 18-35, active duty military memberships and nonresident Equity memberships all at rates which amount to less than $6 a day for unlimited golf and clubhouse privileges.
The course is open to the public after 11 a.m. Friday through Wednesday.
“We offer competitive rates, spectacular views, pristine greens, great food and a covered driving range,” Lippold said.

Opening day in PT
Opening day of the 2015 season for the Port Townsend Women’s Golf Club is Tuesday, according to captain Barb Matter.
Interested ladies of all levels of golfing experience should meet at the clubhouse at 9:30 a.m., with tee times following at 10 a.m.
The nine-hole games will continue every Tuesday at Port Townsend Golf Course until October.
There is a $10 membership fee.
Matter said the group will also host a 2015 Women’s Invitational in August.

Cedars demos
Cedars at Dungeness in Sequim is planning a series of demo days in April, beginning with TaylorMade/Adams Golf from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 8.
That is the first of four consecutive Wednesday visits that run from noon to 4 p.m.
Callaway Golf visits April 15, Ping is on hand April 22 and Nike Golf sets up shop April 29.
Dungeness women
Bonney Benson wrote in to say the Dungeness Woman’s Golf Association kicked off its 2015 season back in early March.
“Mother Nature has cooperated, so far, by granting us very nice weather,” Benson said.
“We’ve had around three groups each week playing and staying dry.
“Our numbers continue to grow as the snowbirds venture back home to Sequim and surrounding areas.”
Benson said the group has plenty of fun planned this season, including participating in the Teams of the Peninsula (TOPS) group, publinks events and the annual Days of Whine & Roses Tournament to cap the season in September.
A new slate of officers has been elected, with Barb Burrow voted captain, Donna Maclean co-captain; Wanda Synnestvedt, secretary; Nancy Schoessler, treasurer, Pat Conway, tournament chair; and Lori Wyngaert and Barb Burrows, competition.
“Also, we would like to ‘welcome’ Sue Mobley to our fold,” Benson said.
“She came to us from Arizona. We are delighted she chose us. She is a great addition to our club.”
Shea in action
Sequim High School golfer Jack Shea played in the first annual Washington Junior Golf Association Boys Western Open title at Capitol City Golf Club in Olympia over the weekend.
Shea, who has been lights out for the Wolves in early matches this season, carded rounds of 83 and 81 to finish 28th in the Boys 16-17 flight.
Fox steady at Bellevue
Port Angeles High School golf product Dana Fox is back in action on our side of Puget Sound on Thursday and Friday at the Olympic Invite at Gold Mountain Golf Club in Bremerton.
Fox, last year’s co-Olympic League Girls Golf MVP with Sequim’s Alex McMenamin, is a freshman on the Bellevue women’s team.
She had a steady and successful fall season for the Bulldogs.
Fox was sixth in the Skagit Valley Cardinal Classic in September, and seventh in both the Ann Swanson Cup at Trophy Lakes in Port Orchard in October, and the Wine Valley Invitational in Walla Walla in November.
Her low round of the fall, an 82, came at Wine Valley.
